I believe that schools and curriculum must reflect the world and society in which teachers and students live and promote social agency to empower them both to improve that society, not only in the classroom, but in the wider world.

I graduated from St. Francis Xavier University (StFX) with a Bachelor of Arts in 2021, with a major in English and minor in History. I won an Undergraduate Research Award from StFX to study how National Library of South Africa Grey Collection MS G.4.c.14 journeyed from Rome to Cape Town. This led to a forthcoming article in Florilegium: Foran, A. & Trembinski, D., “Out of Sight, Out of Catalogue: The Neglected Grey Collection Medical MS G.4.c.14, its Problematic Provenance and its Colonial Context.” I am currently a second-year Bachelor of Education student at StFX in the secondary stream with English, Social Studies, and French teachables.

I am interested in critical literacy pedagogy and how to incorporate critical, literary, and cultural theory in the secondary classroom. I am also interested in multilingual and additional language education.
